Here at Saga Travel, we are eager to welcome a forward-thinking Digital Front End Developer into our vibrant Digital Marketing team. Reporting directly to our Digital Road Map Manager, you’ll collaborate with skilled professionals including our in-house UX/UI designer, dedicated IT teams, and Business Analyst, all driven to deliver seamless user journeys for our customers—from initial holiday inspiration through to booking and beyond.
As part of our innovative digital team, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of travel online, with the freedom to contribute your ideas to our wider digital strategy. You’ll bring design concepts to life, crafting engaging and functional user interfaces using modern languages and frameworks. This role is perfect for someone who loves blending technical skills with creativity, and enjoys working closely with designers and back-end developers to build dynamic, interactive features—think animations, forms, and real-time elements that delight users at every click.
We believe in flexible working, with our digital travel team spending 3 days a week in our Folkestone office—where collaboration and inspiration run high—and 2 days working from the comfort of home. It’s the ideal blend for keeping your work-life balance in check while staying connected to the team.
Role Responsibility
• To collaborate with talented designers, skilled back-end developers, and visionary stakeholders to turn creative concepts into functional, user-friendly digital products.
• Work with technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to craft exceptional front-end code, and leverage leading front-end frameworks like React, Angular, or Next.js to keep our solutions modern and efficient.
• Champion responsive design, ensuring every website and application you build looks and works beautifully across all devices and screen sizes, from mobile to desktop.
• Testing the front-end code for usability and functionality.
• Manage and execute the implementation of Adobe Target experiences across Saga’s sites, including but not limited to coding using HTML and Javascript, as well as testing and QA on each build
• Working with our CMS to build out new component and functionality.
• Owning the code integration for Analytics and full understanding the end-to-end process, raising and fixing bugs.
• Be the champion for code optimisation and performance – having an understanding of Google Lighthouse and suggesting ways to increase rankings, loading times for users etc.
• Remaining up to date with development best practice.
• Assisting with troubleshooting systems and work collaboratively to resolve and prevent any defects, risk or issues.
The Ideal Candidate
You will have already worked as a Front-End Developer or Application Developer , ideally on a digital customer facing platform for a sizeable organisation. You will be comfortable to showcase your technical coding ability during the interview stage and have the following skills and capabilities;
• Code websites using React, HTML, JavaScript and CSS
• Proficiency using digital design packages (Photoshop, Illustrator and Dreamweaver or similar products)
• Adobe Target and Analytics skills
• Knowledge of using JIRA and agile methodology
• Great communication skills, in this role you will work across a matrix of teams
• Keen to learn new coding languages and technologies in the role
• An eye for detail and identifying problems
• Ideally have an interest in learning and understanding back end technologies
