The Knowledge Adviser (Education) supports the Data Government and Information Team and GKIM professionals to develop the GKIM profession. Working with colleagues to understand learning and development needs of GKIM professionals in HMRC, engaging with them to provide professional learning and qualifications that reflect requirements of our work, within budget. You will support the organisation and delivery of learning campaigns, collective learning, building on existing training, educate all HMRC staff in GKIM topics. You will ensure all staff recognise their obligation towards legal requirements related to Data Protection and Records Management. Additionally, the role of the Knowledge Adviser is to promote collective learning and facilitate the sharing of ‘tacit and explicit’ knowledge within and building on the available training and awareness in the knowledge management techniques and tools. You support the acquisition, creation, and reuse of knowledge across HMRC. You will identify, establish and participate by using corporate knowledge and opportunities for knowledge sharing using current knowledge principles, enhancing the effectiveness of HMRC function. You will work closely with other KIM roles to understand and promote their requirements in HMRC. The Knowledge Adviser will know skills reporting tools to identify experience, technology, and gaps across the professions. This role involves developing and coordinating business-wide training schemes or materials to address these knowledge gaps, working closely with the Subject Matter Experts in DIG. You will update the GKIM Academy in SharePoint. You will gather information supporting budgeting forecasts for the GKIM profession within HMRC. You will be adept at advocating for and presenting the benefits of KIM practices and initiatives, identifying key stakeholders to foster organisational KIM and support the implementation of strategies and managing those ongoing relationships.

Person specification
Essential Criteria
• Ability to clearly engage with stakeholders, specifically understanding tools available to measure skills and skills gaps.
• Demonstrate inclusiveness in learning material, by assuring accessibility and different techniques to suit learning styles
• Good interpersonal and resilience skills with the confidence to communicate and challenge effectively, such as capability building sessions
• Understanding of development of people using current learning interventions and tools
• Good presentation, communication and writing skills,
• Understand existing technologies (e.g. Microsoft 365 including SharePoint) that support KM best practice.
Desirable Criteria
• CIPD in L&D or T&D or willingness to work towards accreditation or similar qualification
• Relevant experience in similar learning management role
• Experience of Knowledge Management

Sift

Hybrid working at HMRC
HMRC is an office-based organisation, and colleagues are expected to spend 60% of their working time in the office.
